The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free PreK program for eligible four-year-olds. Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond.
The Royal Oak Schools GSRP program is grant funded through the Oakland ISD. Our program is Monday-Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm. Royal Oak Early Childhood Center also offers tuition based before and after care.
For the 2026/2027 school year, your child must be born between September 2, 2021 and December 1, 2022 to be eligible for GSRP.
Families must be residents of Michigan. While there are no income limits, applications are prioritized by families that need it most.
The process to register and enroll into GSRP has a number of steps which are outlined below. Please note this is a new process implemented throughout Oakland County, coordinated by the Help Me Grow Care Coordinators at Great Start Collaborative Oakland County.
